SLSA Postgraduate Representative:
call for expressions of interest
The SLSA wishes to appoint a new Postgraduate Representative to its Board as one of our current PG reps, Mini Saxena, has recently stepped down after two years of service.
This is an exciting opportunity to represent the views of postgraduate members to the Board of Trustees, encourage postgraduate recruitment, and be involved in organising the SLSA's activities for the postgraduate community.
Closing date for expressions of interest: 7 July 2025.
SLSA Postgraduate Representative
The role of Postgraduate Representative includes:
- representing the views of postgraduate members to the Board of Trustees;
- encouraging postgraduates working in socio-legal studies to join the Association;
- maintaining a postgraduate email list and sharing relevant information with PGRs through the mailing list and via social media;
- organising particular activities for postgraduate members at the SLSA Annual Conference, and at other times of the year, as relevant; and,
- liaising with and assisting the university organisers of the annual SLSA Postgraduate Conference.
Alongside attending Board meetings, the Postgraduate Representatives each undertake Board member responsibilities such as reviewing articles for SLSA prizes and being part of SLSA subcommittees. They make an active and essential contribution to the SLSA’s work on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). You will likely hold the role for up to 2–3 years and would need to be a PGR student throughout this period. You will be required to be a member of the SLSA (if not already) at the time of taking up the appointment.
There are two PG representatives on the Board, recognising the level of work involved and allowing responsibilities to be shared. Further information on the role can be obtained from the current Postgraduate Representative, Diksha Sanyal, at
