Have the different ways in which Universal Credit operates in Scotland and Northern Ireland made a positive difference? And what are the possible lessons for Wales, which still has very little competence for social security at devolved level?
Come along to this webinar, supported by the SLSA and Joseph Rowntree Foundation, to hear new research evidence about the operation of Universal Credit in Glasgow and Northern Ireland. You'll get the chance to hear from researchers and from participants who have direct experiences of Universal Credit in these devolved countries and contribute to a discussion about what Wales can learn from social security devolution in Northern Ireland (since 1921) and Scotland (since 2016), not least its impact on people who use the system.
Following the landmark inquiry into Benefits in Wales by the Senedd’s Equality, Local Government and Communities Committee, the webinar will provide an opportunity to reflect on the opportunities and limitations of social security devolution from the perspective of its most important stakeholders.
