SLSA PGR Writing Group
This writing group offers a supportive and friendly environment for writing while fostering community among SLSA PGRs.
- Next meeting: 28 May 2025
We are excited to announce the next session of our tri-annual writing group for socio-legal PGRs. As you may know, this writing group offers a supportive and friendly environment for writing while fostering community among SLSA PGRs. We are pleased to report that the final session for this academic year will be taking place in a hybrid format! We will host the session in London (and online) on Wednesday, 28 May, and the SLSA has generously provided modest funding for travel bursaries for those attendees who do not have access to university budgets/other allowances.
Opportunity to ask Questions to a Socio-Legal Expert as well as Build Networks
While previous sessions have followed a 'Shut Up and Write' (SUAW) format — featuring brief introductions, four 25-minute writing blocks with 5-minute breaks, and reflections at the end — this session introduces a new element based on participants' feedback.
Based on your feedback, and as with our last writing group, we are including a short session with a guest speaker. This time around, we are delighted to host Dr Isobel Roele from Queen Mary University of London! This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight from Dr Roele's experiences; Dr Roele works within a law and humanities tradition, drawing particularly on critical theory, psychoanalysis, and the history of art to inform her research. Dr Roele will join us in-person from 11:30am to 12:30pm (and stay on for lunch), and has expressed a willingness to assist with any aspect of writing that attendees would find most helpful; as such, please indicate in the below Google form what you would like her to focus on. After lunch, we will have our usual "Shut Up and Write" (SUAW) format, featuring four 25-minute writing blocks interspersed by 5-minute breaks, and reflections at the end.
